08:36 AM ET 07.04 | Independence Day takes on a whole new meaning for Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, the big fish in a relatively thin free agent class. "It's very stressful. I understand no one wants to be dragging on," Parise told Josh Rimer on "Night Cap" on nextsportstar.com Tuesday night. ... Comparisons have been made to the Miami Heat getting LeBron James and Chris Bosh together to play alongside Dwyane Wade. But when friends bring up the Heat in text messages, Parise bristles, even though he has a good relationship with Suter. "We've talked. Ryan and I are friends. We've definitely talked throughout this thing." ... The Wild, Penguins, Red Wings and Flyers have been linked with both stars. I would love to play on a team with a defenseman like Ryan Suter."

I suggested this as a possible scenario, with the Wild, a while back. We'll soon see...

Independence Day! Yay. Enjoy, all my American friends.

The Phoenix Coyotes say that forward Brett MacLean suffered a cardiac emergency on Monday night in Owen Sound, Ontario. Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said in a statement that MacLean required CPR on site and was taken to hospital and admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit.

Seriously, the guy who interviewed him asked him about 1 player. That player was Suter. So he answered it.
I don't see either of these guys doing anything that every other person wouldn't do. Talking to lots of people. Zach said in his interview he has talked to many players, many different captains. Marty and Salvador both said they spoke to him. So what.

even if they are in this together, it still doesn't make it anything like Lebron & Bosh joining D.Wade in Miami.

Because b.ball relies so heavily on a few players the Heat became instant 'favorites' year in, year out. These guys will be the team to beat in the east for as long as they remain together. Meanwhile, if these 2 guys decide to join forces in Wild countrey, does anybody have this team pegged as a legit contender? I would give them a shot at the playoffs, but hardly more than. Let alone perennial contender status.

Also, question....am I the only one out there that feels that offering Suter above 7 million per season is completely ridiculous? SUrely I can't be, comments?

I think that Parise is massively overvalued as well.

7 mil for Suter is nuts, the 9-10 mil per season for Parise is insane.

All about the market buddy. 1 good dman available. That's it. Wideman gets 5.25, that set the market. So do I think Sutter is 2 mil more valuable then Widemen YUP.

That contract for Wideman was insane and it set the bar for contracts this offseason.

Peter Chiarelli for GM of the year next year. The money he got players for just before the offseason began was pretty amazing considering what the market became.

He's reported to be stable, but it sounds like he literally died on the ice.

very scary and concur with the thoughts.

Alright, Parise once had 94 points in a season, which was very good...for FIFTH in the league that year. He has won no individual awards, he isn't a player that people will go out of their way to see, and as we just saw this past season will NOT single handedly win you a Cup. He's a very, very gifted player and can help out any team.

So what you're saying is that he's perfect for the Leafs...

Nope. You aren't the only one. Regrettably, some dumb GM (or one who's trying to save his own arse) will mortgage his team's future and give it to him.
