08:21 AM ET 07.05 | Though Joba Chamberlain's firing a ball from foul territory along the third-base line deep into the left-field seats Wednesday morning might not have been the smartest move, it did send a message. "Everything is feeling real good," said Chamberlain, who will throw a simulated game [Thursday] at the Yankees' minor league complex in Tampa. "The fastball command continues to get better. I have a better tempo and rhythm. The pitch that hasn't been good is my slider and we focused on that and it's better." Chamberlain, who had Tommy John surgery last summer and dislocated the right ankle in a trampoline accident in March, insists he will pitch in the big leagues this year but doesn't have an exact date.

A lot of guys look good when they aren't facing competition but time will tell. Right now he's not in the Yankees plans so no need to rush him. Is this the last year he's under contract to the Yankees?

I guess they figured that relievers are easier to come by but a starter with a 100 MPH fast ball is special. It maybe could have worked if he was handled differenly, the other problem is even as a reliever he was inconsistant. Looked brilliant or down right lousy.
