08:01 AM ET 07.06 | During this relative downtime on the NFL calendar, a political football is being tossed around in Western New York, where Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz vows to have much of a new stadium lease hammered out by the start of training camp next month. "They (The Bills) want more than I think they know they're going to get," Poloncarz told WGRZ-TV. "But but we're not going to give away the store to keep the team here. We're going to ensure that this team is economically viable and is kept here for many years. ... [I] feel confident that when all is said and done that we're going to get a lease that is fair for all, and keeps the Buffalo Bills in this community so that they're the Buffalo Bills, not the Los Angeles Bills," Poloncarz said.

I'm thinking that Erie County politicians need to worry less about LA and a bit more about Toronto. Toronto would love to have a piece of the NFL pie and I don't know that Goodell wouldn't mind this either.

They should take a page from The L.A. Angels of Anaheim.
The Buffalo Bills of Toronto.

I think that'd do it. Haven't they played one home game there for the past several years?

The Bills, despite their recent record, have a loyal, perhaps even rabid, fan base.

Owner Ralph Wilson is 93 years old. He was the guy who lent money to the Raiders and the Patriots in the early AFL days or those franchises were about to go under.
I see Jim Kelly doing a Nolan Ryan thing where he uses other peoples money to take it over some day. He lives in the area, married a local girl and all. The Paychex guy who bougth the Sabres comes to mind.

Yes they do, and the NFL needs only to look at the MLB experiment in Canada to give them some second thoughts. It is not the golden goose some may think.

I think they only have 1 exhibition game scheduled in Toronto this year.

I hope something like that happens. Despite the Ginger Dictator's desire to move all NFL teams to large markets where it never snows, places like Buffalo that have supported their franchises through thick and thin for decades really deserve to have teams.

True that. You would have to look long and hard to find fans more dedicated than Bills fans.
