08:02 AM ET 07.06 | It's been almost a week since Eli Manning's skills had been debated publicly. Amani Toomer said it. Tony Romo is better than Eli Manning. The guy who used to catch pass from the two-time Super Bowl MVP may have gone out of bounds when he pumped up the mercurial Cowboy at Eli's expense, even if he got his divisions mixed up in the process. "Tony Romo is probably -- if you look at him statistically -- he's probably the best quarterback in the NFC East," Toomer said as co-host with Tim Ryan on "Move the Chains" on SIRIUS radio. "I mean, you look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter. But you talk about consistency ... talk about 31 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. That guy can play."

To be fair Mick, it's saying stats. Romo's QB rating is higher than Eli's.
However 2 -0 in the rings count. That's what fans look at.

Nothing like trying to remain relevant. Toomer needs to reflect on an ok career and realize that Easy E made him a SB Champ.

Oh please stop the frickin' madness! 2 Super Bowls to NONE says enough. Add the fact that in pretty much every showdown between the two Eli has come out winning.

He did say 'statistically' and 'probably' in making his statement.

Exactly.
Disregarding the rings, on paper Romo is better. On PAPER!! Giants and Cowboy fans would both agree that Eli is better on the field.

Plenty of qb's have had good stats and no rings. With the exception of Marino most won't be in the HOF unless they buy a ticket.

He did say at "crunch" time Eli was better. He was talking stats regular season. fair enough. Toomer was a good player and a good guy. Still is.
This kind of stuff sure does not bother me. Now that Tiki nonsense, that was bothersome.

Ignoring schemes and chemistry for a moment, if the teams switch quarterbacks at the beginning of last season, do the Giants still win the SuperBowl? Do the Cowboys make the playoffs?

Consistency? How about career won-lost record?
Tony Romo: 47-30, .610
Eli Manning: 69-50, .580
Tom Brady: 124-35, .780
So, why are we talking about these two mid-level quarterbacks again?

In answering your last question...NO! With the secondary that played it wouldn't have mattered who was at qb.
