Boston chased Parise, too

08:33 AM ET 07.06 | Among the teams -- reportedly somewhere in the neighborhood of two-thirds of the league -- making a pitch to Zach Parise was cap-strapped Boston. [Parise] received a "significant offer" from the Bruins, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. Prior to the opening of free agency, general manager Peter Chiarelli expected he would remain on the sideline. The Bruins have less than $3 million in cap space, which was recently set at $70.2 million for 2012-13, although it could decline. ... By signing Parise, the Bruins would have exceeded the cap by the allowable 10 percent offseason cushion. They could have placed Marc Savard on long-term injured reserve, and also attempted to clear Tim Thomas's salary.

Naaah............................there are 28 more teams and we need to know how each one of them handled the Parise matter. Were they interested? Did they have cap space? Do they send Zach a Christmas card? Take him to dinner? Was Sather polite to him? Why doesn't he still like Lou? Has he ever met Charles Wang? Did Detroit make a REAL offer? Did Donald Fehr advise Zach? So many questions. Can we use at least half the threads every day to look into this?

Per Katie Strang: Garth Snow, "Oh yeah, Boston? We chased him too! Yeah, we did. Okay? So there!!!"
Seriously, let's move on.

Same with the Pens. Probably to make Sid happy they went through the motions. Never could fit him on long term with Geno's contract expiring in 2 years.
