07:11 AM ET 07.07 | With the non-waiver trade deadline coming at the end of the month, the Orioles are "going hard" after Milwaukee Brewers' Zack Greinke, according to an industry source. The source, an executive with another big-league club, said the Orioles appear to be the most aggressive suitor currently for Greinke, the 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner who is a free-agent at the end of the season.

The O's would be foolish to part with bundy or machado. They really need both of those prospects to pan out

He's having a decent (not great) season playing under the dim lights of the NL Central, but I think he's going to get exposed if he goes to the AL East. Bottom line, this guy has had one good season.

Good for The O's, this guy would be a Great addition!!!

He's been pretty consistant throughout his career. His highest era was 4.17 which isn't bad at all and this year he's at 3.08 so I can understand why teams will be wanting to take a chance on him.

I agree. Plus, he won is Cy Young award playing in the AL. I think he could be an asset to any rotation.

Do it Orioles!

It's about time!

don't do it, he'll command way too many prospects and he'll be a free agent after this season! I don't wanna part with bundy or machado, this team needs young reinforcements!

He looks like E.T. throwing a pitch in that pic.

Peter Angelos doesn't give a damn about prospects. I confidently predict that he and Buck will twist Duquette's arm (not that it needs much twisting anyhow) and make this happen.

This move will make them a lock for third place.

Greinke is a chump who's a bigger deal in his own mind than he is in reality. I can only hope that he jumps ship in another futile attempt to go for a 'winning' team, only to fall short of yet another ring.

They have to be able to sign him before they give up part of the future. Peter will never give up that kind of money.

Why the anger?

I concur. It's gonna take a big package for the O's to acquire Greinke. They're in rebuilding mode & it doesnt make sense for them to trade for a guy that's gonna b a FA @ the end of the yr.

Plus does anyone really expect them to stick around? Probably just a case of building interest before the deadline.

Always - and I mean always - trade prospects for established stars.

However, Greinke scares the hell out of me.

Play the waiting game. With no supplimentary draft picks a pending FA's value drops as they get closer to the trade deadline. Grow some balls, wait it out, and chuck in a low-ball offer a couple of days before the deadline.
