07:26 AM ET 07.07 | Reggie Jackson said yesterday he was looking to contact Gary Carter's widow to apologize for comments made about "The Kid's" Hall of Fame spot. In a recent Sports Illustrated article, Jackson lumped Carter in with Kirby Puckett, Jim Rice and others as players he questioned being in the Hall of Fame. Jackson also cast doubt about Alex Rodriguez and Andy Pettitte being worthy of Hall of Fame status because of performance enhancing drug usage. Rodriguez admitted in 2009 to using PEDs while with the Rangers. Pettitte also admitted using PEDs.

Welcome to America - the land of free speech (as long as your ready to apologize profusely for an opinion that is even remotely controversial).

No one threatened or questioned Reggie's right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that people can't call you out when you say controversial things. Reggie isn't going to jail, so the First Amendment is working just fine. Perhaps you should bone up on what freedom of speech actually means.
Oh...this just in - Reggie Jackson is a complete tool.

Oh Reggie, when are you going to just shut up? You were lucky to get into the hall so why are you questioning others? Just sit back and enjoy the years you have left.

The HOF is lowering it's Standards for the past 20 - 30 Years the people who vote are the same guys who allow obvious errors to be hits and and have little or no Knowledge of The History of Baseball!

I didn't see his comments but there are more than a few guys in the HOF that probably don't belong if they were held by the same standards as guys who played 30 or 40 years ago. Unfortunately there is no good way of picking players to enter the HOF since some writers do abuse the privledge of voting by either not voting for guys because they have a issue with them or they use all 10 votes on their ballet every year. But it is what it is.

The problem with the Hall of Fame is the need to induct someone every year. I true Hall of Fame might have some years where nobody gets in.

Screw Reggie Jackson....how can he say that about Carter....Carter was one of the best all around catchers in the history of baseball....Bench,Berra,Fisk,Munson and Carter.....Only reason Reggie is in the HOF is his 563 HR....he was a lifetime .260 hitter.....and is still the all time strikeout leader.....which as a hitter isn't a good thing..he also made 142 errors as part time RF/DH..so just for comparison sake Eddie Murray a HOF first baseman who played full defense for 20 years made 167 errors.....142 errors by a RF is a ton.....Reggie should keep quiet they may revoke that HOF plaque.....

Nice...
He hasn't done it yet... But he made sure to let everyone know that he wants to...
Maybe he can arrange a Dr. Phil special for it.

All Reggie did was give an opinion. You have yours... he has his own.
He never said anything personal about Carter or his family. Simply stated he didn't think he was a HOFer.
Ease up on your suspenders there lil' Gunther.

But his point carries more weight than Reggies!
Reggie was a decent player who swung for the fences and made a ton of errors. Do you think Reggie would be inducted into the Hall if he played today?
