McCoy not sure he'll get fair shake in Cleveland

Colt will get a fair shot but unfortunately it won't be enough. He lacks the tools that Weeden posses which will cause him to back up the Rookie. Hopefully the Browns can move Colt to give him a shot elsewhere but I think they are hesitant right now because Weeden hasn't put on pads and shown them what he can do when the stakes are raised.

If nothing else, I'll give McCoy credit for recognizing the signs. Maybe he'd do well to study behind Rivers out in San Diego.

Given the talent level around him, I'm not sure McCoy got a fair shot to be a starter when he started last year.

I agree with you. The kid could only do so much with what he had. I remember watching him play against Pittsburgh and just getting the snot beaten out of him. He kept getting back up. I hope he lands somewhere where he can get a fair opportunity to be successful.

Contrary to any players opinion, head coaches try to put the best players on the field to try to win. That is how they keep their job.

QBs drafted in the third round ( McCoy) have to play themselves onto the field.

QBs drafted in the first round ( Weeden) have to play themselves off of the field.

He needs a fresh start. maybe it will make a difference maybe not. if his career is going to go anywhere it needs to be somewhere else.

That's harsh 50. True but harsh

I don't see how Weeden is going to fare any better than McCoy, given that it was being widely reported that McCoy never had a chance to even get to his second or third read on a pass plays last season due to the offensive line.

Also, if you give Weeden 2 years to develop into an experienced QB (not an unreasonable time period), he's going to be 30.

McCoy may not be the answer. To my way of thinking, he's never had a chance to prove that one way or the other. What the Browns seem to be doing, however, is moving toward a QB that really gives them no chance to win a championship.

Cleveland had a chance to upgrade their team (O line and TE especially) with all those draft picks. I thought they squandered most of them by unnecessarily trading up and drafting stupidly.

Weeden has no mobility to go along with that big arm. I wish him the best of luck vs. the Steelers and Ravens.

Hey ! Let Weeden start, see how good he is at running for his life. They still don't have a Oline and whomever starts will not finish. Weeden I couldn't care less about, McCoy deserves a shot on a real team

Uh you must not follow the Browns. They upgraded the O line with Schwartz but their TE's where never the problem, their WR's are!

They still have a chance to sign a FA WR in the next month but even without one Weeden will fare better than Colt because he has more tools than Colt. As for the Browns vs the Steelers and Ravens, I like their chances against the Steelers (splitting) but they will need to pull out all the stops against the Ravens to upset them. The way I see it, "IF" Richardson turns out to be a stud RB and he can control the ball against the Ravens this would definitely help the teams chances to control the clock and give the passing game the break it needs. With that being said, I think the Browns will win 7 games this year which will give them room to grow in the next draft.

They need more than 1 first round O-lineman in order to consider it an upgrade. They passed up the best TE prospect in years (Fleener) and a better O-line player (DeCastro) when they decided to take Weeden. I like the Richardson pick but it also came at a price: they passed up the best OL in the draft (Kalil) and the best WR (Blackmon).

I consider myself a casual Browns fan - I listen to their games on radio every Sunday (no TV coverage here in TX). I too was considering the big picture ... next year's QB class will have more to offer than a 28 year old shotgun pocket passer with a 4 year shelf life. Barkley, Wilson and Jones are younger and more developed than Weeden and to me it made more sense to strengthen the rest of the team first. JMO.
