08:09 AM ET 07.09 | While it wasn't Alex Rodriguez vs. Jason Varitek, the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry did offer some fireworks over the weekend. [Vicente Padilla], clearly tired of the frequent criticism leveled at him by Mark Teixeira about his propensity for pitching inside and hitting batters, fired back late Saturday, saying that the Yankees first baseman was prejudiced against Latinos and that he had threatened to hit him with a bat. Padilla also said that Teixeira would "be better off playing a women's sport." Teixeira's reaction? "Hilarious -- that's good," he laughed. Joe Girardi feared that the feud might have some consequences before Sunday's Yankee win, saying he'd consider pinch-hitting for Teixeira if his first baseman were due up against Padilla.

2 of the most disliked players in the game hate each other. Who would have thunk it?

This is pretty much business as usual between these two teams. There is always something going on but this time it's a lot of fuss over nothing.

So much for your in-depth analysis that had the Yankees in 4th place in the AL East. Your Rangers better watch out the Angels are coming.

Another hitter whining about being pitched inside.... Really?....

Morning all... oh, CSF - glad to see Peavy in the ASG

As an observer with no allegiances in this spat, I have to say that Padilla definitely comes across as the bigger idiot.

Good morning. Yes, Peavy does deserve it.

I have no problem with the "Girly Man" comment referencing the complaints about being pitched inside. The racism comment - that could have been left out of the mix....

It's a pitcher's choice where to throw the ball, it's the hitter's choice how to handle things. Tex, please stop whinning. Let your play do the talking Bro.

And yet even though they have been scuffling along losing 3 starting pitchers to the DL and one key component from the bullpen they still have a 4 game lead. Now they start getting these guys back. No problem!
