08:11 AM ET 07.09 | Manager Ozzie Guillen's patience quickly found its breaking point Sunday. [Guillen] has supported Hanley Ramirez all year but Ozzie ripped Ramirez [after Sunday's game] for "a very stupid injury." Ramirez, after bouncing out in the sixth inning, came back to the dugout at slammed his right hand against a cooling fan. The impact sliced open his knuckles requiring two stitches. Ramirez -- who went 2 for 22 on the road trip -- is expected to return to action Friday when the Marlins open the second half of the season. But Ozzie was not happy at all. Here is what he told reporters: "Very stupid injury. Very immature," he said. "You're going to hurt yourself because you can't hit? Good hitters don't do that."

Yes, it was a very stupid and immature act but Ozzie is the last person who should be commenting on immature acts. His last season in Chicago was in many ways a textbook example of being self-centered and immature.

Players do (and say) stupid things when they're frustrated, it happens a lot.

I have to wonder about Rameriz though since a lot of Sox fans are still mad this guy got traded. Would his act fly in Boston? Probably not.

Ozzie calling someone else immature is hilarious.

July 9, 2012  09:35 AM ET

Ozzie knows immature from Oney.

The Marlins were in the bright lights at the winter meetings on a positive note spending their 200 million for players . Now that half of the season is over the Marlins are still in the bright lights but in a negative tone with Ozzie blasting his super stars.

This injury reminds me of when Carlos Quentin slammed his wrist against his bat and broke his wrist during the 2008 season, under Ozzie's watch.

Ozzie calling anyone out for maturity?

Here we go, wait until he gets to Reyes, they need to go to Boarding School!!!

I have to agree with most of these comments--it wasn't a smart move by Ramirez, but Guillen definitely lacks credibility when he calls out someone else for being immature. This is the stuff of which late-night talk show jokes are made of.

Ramirez should have punched Clown Ozzie in the face. That would have made everyone happy.

Any Sox fan that is made Ramirez got traded is out of his ****ing mind. Without that trade that brought Beckette and Lowell to Boston, there's a good chance they'd still be waiting for a championship.

Ahh, so nice to have a calm, cool manager like Robin Ventura! I give Ozzie two years tops with the Marlins!

July 9, 2012  12:43 PM ET

But what does Fidel think about all of this?

July 9, 2012  12:45 PM ET

Wow, some of the comments here are so off base.

Ozzie wasn't a great player, but gave it his all. He didn't miss time for doing something completely stupid, on the field or coming off the field.

The Carlos Quentin comment above was really inane, Quentin was frustrated during an at bat and slapped the bat into his hand, something he had done many times before, and had the misfortune of breaking a bone. He didn???t punch or kick something in the clubhouse, or throw a tantrum. Can???t blame Ozzie for that.

Ozzie has a big mouth and makes stupid comments, but it???s his job to call a player out when they do something that causes them to miss time and hurts the club.

Oh sorta like he did numerous times in Chicago when he ran his mouth off and got suspended for it? How about earlier this season when he ran his mouth and got suspended by the team as well?

Sorry, but Ozzie calling out anyone for being immature is not a good thing to do, when he himself is as immature as anyone in that locker room.

I liked Ozzie as a manager of the White Sox when he was there, but his act got tiring and he should have been fired a year before he actually was. He lost that team twice in 2 years, and it seems he already has lost this team half way through the season. There is zero chance this team will be kept together after next year, not with the way those contracts are structured. Its a shame Buerhle followed him to the Marlins though, he should have gone to an actual team and left loyalty behind.

Buerhle will never be heard from again until he returns to the White Sox as a coach.
