08:12 AM ET 07.09 | Tim Lincecum awoke to a startling reality Monday morning, that he is the worst starting pitcher in the majors this year. When Lincecum's first half mercifully ended in the fourth inning of Sunday's 13-2 loss to the Pirates, his ERA stood at 6.42, the highest of the 101 starters with enough innings to qualify for the league leaderboards. ... "You never want to say, 'I've hit rock bottom' or anything like that," Lincecum said, "but when things are going as bad as they are right now, you've got to go out there with the feeling like you've got nothing left to lose. Leave it out on the field. Whatever happens, happens. I have to erase this, (but) obviously remember it and use it to know what I don't want to go through again. It's been terrible.

So he's this years John Lackey?

Rock bottom? Maybe, maybe not. I do know that AJ Burnett outpitched Tim by a long shot for his 10th win with Pittsburgh. It would be great to see AJ get 20 wins for the Pirates. Tim Lincecum will eventually figure out what his issues are and adapt.

He'll always have a career as a batting practice pitcher to fall back on.

This guy has scared me for the last year and a half. I avoided him on my fantasy teams this year. I'm telling you, the weed will kill your brain cells.

Dead arm syndrome is pretty difficult to recover from.

I seem to remember that he ran into a similar streak before, forget what year, but Timmy Boy came out of it!

The Giants look like they have another Mark "The Bird" Fidrych on their hands.

So pitching velocity is directly attributed to number of brain cells?!?!?!?!?Maybe you need to put the pipe down. The kid had an unorthodox pitching style that bemused batters as he'd throw to them and to that the fact that he put tremendous stress on his elbow. So in summation: batters getting used to jerky pitching motion + reduction in velocity = poor performance

Weed dumbass.

I don't even smoke but do a little research and you'll know marijuana doesn't kill brain cells. And even if it did, I'm not sure how that would affect pitching performance. Idiotic comment.
