08:19 AM ET 07.09 | From Thursday of last week through Sunday, "The Opening" offered nearly 150 of the top prep football players in the country a chance to shine, but there could only be one MVP. The conversation in the stands was repeated over and over on Sunday, 'Who's that?' Upon digging through their programs it was almost on cue that spectators' said, 'Ohhh,' when seeing Prosper (Texas) wide receiver Torii Hunter Junior's name. ... [Hunter ended] up making the biggest plays -- long touchdown after long touchdown for the winning squad -- during the 7ON tournament to be named overall MVP. "It's a lot of fun playing against these guys," Hunter said. "It was definitely a big thing to get invited, I wasn't expecting it."

Doesn't say where the kid is headed. His offer list is not that impressive - Zona, Moo St, Red Faders, guess Arky is the highest profile school listed.
Thinking some of the bigger names will start in on this kid. For you Horn fans, does MB not have any interest in this kid, or are y'all just flush with WR talent already?

He's had some discipline issues at school I believe.

So how the heck does a only-good-speed, only-good-route-runner come loose with the MVP of a big name event like this? Not saying you're wrong, just that it's a little odd, that's all. Guess he could've just had a career day(s) and got lucky.

Usually it depends on if the QB and WR develop chemistry quick for success at these 7on7 camps.

Actually that "good but not great" stuff isn't all that uncommon. Steve Largent was never more than "good" in any category. All he did was run good routes, create enough separation, and catch the ball. When you do everything "good" that's often better than somebody who does one thing "great" but can't do other things. There are always exceptions to the "rules."
