08:20 AM ET 07.09 | To many observers, the reshaping of the Wild happened in what seemed to be a bolt of lightning over the July 4 holiday, but it wound up working in Chuck Fletcher's favor after a long 72 hours. Both players would accept identical contracts. It was Parise's idea. The numbers turned out to be 13 years and $98 million. The contracts included identical signing bonus structures ($25 million the first three years) and no-trade clauses. Both players could have made more elsewhere. Parise reportedly had been offered $110 million by Philadelphia. Suter was offered more than $100 million by a team Sheehy wouldn't identify. To make the Minnesota contracts identical, Parise actually took less than the Wild had offered him.

His Devils signing bonus offer was the Prudential Centers' recyclables for a month.

And that alters nothing,. he wanted out of NJ.....but I understand not wanting to go play in Philly either (early tweak)

Things are going from bad to worse in New Jersey. First, Adam Oates left to coach the Caps, then Parise left for Minny to be with Suter and now Larry Robinson's leaving for San Jose to be the Assistant Coach there.

Well there was an article yesterday that talked about the Parise and Suter signings. Said late Monday the two started discussing playing together. Said Parise asked Suter if he would go to NJ, but Suter said he only wanted to play in the West. They then looked into Detroit but with family ties in MN decided on the Wild. Parise then took less from the Wild then he was altered so he would be on par with Suter.
Maybe he wanted out of NJ, but if he did he wouldn't have asked Suter to come to NJ. In any event, it doesn't matter, that little SOB left and I know have to hate him. Also there is a good shot that the new captain of my team is Kovy, i don't know if I'm OK with that

Lou is. They have to save anywhere they can, and there will be some doubling of jobs.
Vanderbeek will be holding Gov. Christie's wheelbarrow of hot dogs at every game now.

Will Christie be able to stay away at a Devils game this coming season?

doubt it.
He gets the buy 15, get 10 free hot dog/knish combo special.
plus, there are plenty of like minded people there he can bloviate too. (plenty of people being a purely relative term at a Devils' home game...attendance tweak)

I'm glad you added the caveat as I was wondering when three equalled "plenty."

Not surprising considering all the young talent on the Flyers, Parise would be a third liner at best.
Nobody expects…

That and the Flyers never wanting him... was just pushing the price up on the Pens in case...
