Coach: Martinez 'got worse' at Nebraska

08:23 AM ET 07.10 | Taylor Martinez knows what you're saying, America. [Martinez] is aware that many folks -- TV analysts, fans, you name it -- think his throwing motion is, well, unsightly at times. "We both take that as fuel," says Steve Calhoun, the Los Angeles-area quarterback coach who has worked with the Nebraska junior throughout the offseason. ... Calhoun also is convincing when he discusses Martinez's potential as a passer. After all, Taylor was an excellent passer in high school, Calhoun says. "He was just so dominant," the coach says. "But he kind of progressively got worse, from when I saw him in high school (to) when he was at Nebraska. That just comes from him not being able to have someone there to break it all down for him."

QUOTE(#2):

Maybe the kids he played against in HS were barely D3 material

Very possible.

QUOTE(#3):

They thought they were in the SEC. Just a little confused.

Only a few schools in the SEC have QB regression...and it doesn't matter they are still good.

Just hand the ball to Rex.

QUOTE(#6):

Was an excellent passer in high school. Maybe in the cafeteria when someone asked him to pass the catsup or the salt.

At Centennial, he passed for over 3,000 yards, including 28 touchdowns with a 61 percent pass completion. Taylor also rushed for 750 yards with 12 touchdowns. Not only did Martinez receive multiple awards for his performance but led Centennial to a state championship win and a perfect season (15-0).[1]

Not bad in California exspecialy when you look at some of the talent he played against. But I know haters going to hate.

He only works on them with handoffs and pitches.

Please.....their offense is all about Superman. T Rex. Plano Boy. Burkhead the magnificent. The most underrated player in the B1G.

I like Burkhead also... but I think the defense was as much of a letdown as Martinez was.

Then perhaps the problem is with Coach Bo. Hard to focus in a game when Pelini is in your face on the sidelines blowing a head gasket in front of you.

I am fortunate to get to be around this program and I can say for sure all these kids love Bo.

Crick getting hurt early killed us, changed the whole dynamic of the defense.

We need one of the other backs to step up, a good change of pace guy would work very well.
