Bengals forced to defend $10 rally tickets

08:07 AM ET 07.10 | Bengals season ticket holders were recently emailed a "special invitation" to attend a fan rally and concert marking the team's holding of training camp in Cincinnati. Tickets cost $10 -- and a blog usually critical of the Bengals, WhoDeyRevolution, went on the attack, sneering: "it shows even when the Bengals try to reward their most loyal stakeholders, they can't resist squeezing out a few bucks." ... Whoa, says Bengals spokesman Jeff Berding, who authored the invitation email. He says the blog's criticism is akin to unnecessary roughness, considering that the Bengals organization will incur costs "north of six figures" to pay for a local band, fireworks, security and other expenses. ... "I think most people think this is a pretty neat thing," Berding said.

Poor Bengals are using Dolphins stories as filler now? They have a brighter future than that.

Yeah, shouldn't we have a picture of Regis Philbin with this story?

???? Couldn't find that article in Cincinnati Enquire, wonder how the terns at FN got it......

Yet another fine example of journalism by the FN crew. Since this is t @ r why don't you let use write the stories. It would be much funnier and I'm guessing more accurate as well.

How much are they charging for beers? If it's all about the money, let people in free, sell watered-down cheap beer for $5 a cup, and clean up.

If you're going to charge a $10 cover and $10 for beer, people might have one beer, if they show up at all.

well in my invite it says it includes ,live music, food, soda, water, fireworks, parking but it don't say nothing about beer , my guess it will be the regular price $7.50 for a 22oz. cup

If it's a "rally" why charge anything? Sounds like a marketing ploy from Mike (the thief) Brown, still one of the worst owners in pro sports. How can anyone support this guy? The Kraft family and the Rooney family also run a business but they really want to win above all else and Mike Brown seems content on getting his share of TV money and probably thinks it's a bonus that they won a playoff game as recently as 1991.

Jeff Berding must have attended the Jerry Jones Symposium on Grab the Buck While You Can.

So, let's take a survey: Are you going?

Do you get one admission per season ticket, or will they let you bring a couple of guests, like maybe your kids?

LOL (and agreed @the Mike Brown comment)

My posts are long with contempt for Mr. Brown...but come on, 10 bucks for concert (and probably other activities) to support your team? Seems reasonable. Now, if only you could score game tickets for that...

I Think Not Mr Berding and so do Your Fans!!!

I'd like to know who the band is before passing judgement.

On the surface it's not a bad deal but what do you get in return? Another 21 years of below average play with constant drafting of thugs and convicts? Sure seems like throwing good money after bad.

I'll bet it's Slade and the Guess Who opening for Blue Oyster Cult....

With all of the attendance problems the Bengals have, I would think they come pretty cheap right now from EBay or a scalper

Hey now... They don't draft thugs and convicts.

- They sign them in Free Agency!

- They sign them to the cheerleading squad!

- They (thugs and convicts) get to call themselves "Owner"!

- No wait...they DO draft them!

- This joke has so many punchlines!

(Your point is well taken.)
