08:28 AM ET 07.10 | For at least one key acquisition, Eric Staal likes what he's seen this summer from the Hurricanes. Staal, who enters his third full season as captain, is encouraged by the Hurricanes' newfound ambition -- as long as they're not done. "For me, just the fact that we're even in the mix, that we threw offers out there to these elite guys, is exciting," Staal said. ... "For us to be involved and make a pitch, it was big. We aren't far off. We've got some very good pieces in place, and if we can add, like they're saying, another elite forward, it will definitely put us in the mix among the top teams in the Eastern Conference. It's exciting. I hope they'll continue to push -- and not just grab anybody, but the right person for our group."

I'm still to see any explanation how Jordan fits any better onto this team with two elite centers than he did on his old team with two elite centers...

He concusses one brother then takes this shot at his other brother/new teammate. Who needs enemies when you have a big brother like Eric.

Man for their sake I hope not. The one not named Staal may wind up better than the ones named Staal AND Nash.

The 'Canes must think that those elite forwards grow on trees. Good luck with that.
