Detroit's next enforcer: 'Dirty Harry'

08:29 AM ET 07.10 | Not only does he embrace the role, but he's earned a name for himself that fits the profile. With a nickname like "Dirty Harry" it's not hard to see what the Detroit Red Wings are hoping to get someday from forward Mitch Callahan. ... Callahan plays a physical game and isn't afraid to drop his gloves when the opportunity arises. He said he led the Grand Rapids Griffins with 14 fights last season while finishing second among all American Hockey League rookies despite playing in just 49 games. "I'll do whatever it takes for me not to work a day job," said Callahan, one of 41 players at this week's Red Wings prospects camp. "Everybody likes to get goals but I'm not huge into stats. I just like to be a reliable defensive player."

Well the sound I heard from 6,000 fans in St. John's last season was a collective gasp when Orr completely missed his check and obliterated himself into the boards in the corner. High comedy.

I am having trouble taking DET seriously as a contender. If the team is so dam_ed good, why do we never see a pic of a PLAYER, only Saint Babcock?

So you're going by pictures now? Alright, that leaves you with the Irked one, fighting Crosby and fire chili Teemu. That still solves nothing.

Apparently, at the start of each fight, he asks the other guy "Do you feel lucky, punk?" :)

Didn't Dats drop em last season?
The Wings don't need an enforcer, when with Dirty Dats in the line-up.

Believe it was the previous season, Corey Perry. Think he fought Niedermeyer a couple years back too...he must not like the Ducks--don't blame him.

Not able to lure the skill, Detroit now is transitioning to a goon squad. I wish Probie was alive to become asst. coach.

Considering Bertuzzi was the only one to play enforcer they could use a little toughness. Good for them.

Sounds like Callahan should call Boogaard's dad for career advice.
