Ryan should consider speculation a compliment

In each of his four full seasons for the Ducks, [Bobby Ryan] has scored at least 30 goals. The number of available NHL players who would fairly compensate the Ducks for Ryan can fit into a Yugo. Sure, he could be better defensively. ... But Ryan should understand that a trade rumor is a compliment. He told a Philadelphia-area reporter last month that the Ducks should just go ahead and trade him to the Flyers. It's nothing that can't be repaired, especially in light of a full year with Bruce Boudreau and maybe on a line with [Teemu Selanne]. Add it up, mix in the Stanley Cup outcome, and it's the worst year for Ducks since the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill.

There have been stupider things said than "consider it a compliment"...but I haven't heard many lately.
That's right up there with that "they're just jealous" thing that everyone's mom says when the other kids picked on you as a kid.
And that line at the end, trying to be funny? I'm sure the people on the Santa Barbara coast are just giggling over that comparison...
