08:06 AM ET 07.11 | As well as the Green Bay Packers performed on the field last season, the NFL's only community-owned franchise may have had an even better year off it. "I think what we've really seen over the last year is we continued to ride the wave of the Super Bowl in terms of our fans' excitement and passion for the team and the organization," Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy said Tuesday. ... The most impressive number is the franchise's $43 million profit from operations in the Packers' 2012 fiscal year, which ended March 31. That's up from $12 million in 2011, accounting for more than a 250 percent increase. Murphy attributed two-thirds of that substantial amount to increased revenue and the other third to reduced expenses.

Selling worthless "stock" to the fans didn't hurt either.

Yeah, I'd like to see the dividend checks the "stock owners" receive. I like that Pack and they run it well. I guess this is a way of continuing to market the team.

Based on today's California bankruptcy news, they could buy San Bernadino and move it to Wisconsin.

It brings up a question, though. What do they do with their profits? The other 31 teams use it for Learjets or private Life-Flight helicopters for their owners, but how do the Packers distribute the wealth? Does every citizen of Green Bay get a cheese hat?

Good mornng to all. I just checked UPS and the replacement bulb for my DLP TV is on the truck for delivery, a day early! And, I've got a big thermos of hot coffee on my desk, so life is good.

Value is relative. To me, owning a piece of the Packers is bragging rights. It's on my curricula vitae and my blog. Although I can't attend this year's owners meeting, I was able to vote online. I definitely got my $250 worth. No other NFL fan can ever hope to realize these feelings and connections to their teams.

bragging rights? Is that like being proud of a southern heritage while everyone else knows it means a poor education? Most people don't go around proudly displaying their stupidity....

Pretty sure the "worthless stock" was used for stadium renovations. Put down the stock all you wish, but in reality people from all walks of life find ways to blow that amount of money on other things and have nothing to show for it. So what if fans spent that little sum of money on some team pride. Maybe peeps should tread on those who spend that amount on a bottle of wine, fireworks, concert tickets, whatever... It's very telling when fans of other teams try to rip the fans of the Packers because they simply bought something they wanted. Packer fans are sorry that your team is owned by some rich white guy who is only going to ask for tax money for a new stadium when that time comes.

if you're looking for bragging rights, you are starting off with a fragile ego...someone who seeks bragging rights is attempting to compensate for low self esteem.

Maybe worthless to you. Are you really just hung up on the term "stock"? Who cares? You exercised your opinion by not buying any. Call it what you wish. Hate it all you wish. but it is ironic that those who bought nothing are more up in arms about it than those who are happy to own it.

FYI - ironically your comments trying to prove yourself as the wiser one is a top line indicator of bloated ego and poor self esteem. just sayin'... given your own personality disorder which indicates somebody who needs the last word, please, let me have it....
