Clippers are becoming ... stable?

08:08 AM ET 07.11 | My, my, how fortunes have changed for the Clippers. For years, even during their rare brushes with success, they were viewed not as an actual basketball team, but as a comedic product of a strange man's obsession. ... When it comes to the Clippers, I've only heard about the actual basketball team known as the Clippers. And for the first time in their 28 years here, that has been enough. The Clippers, enough to convince Blake Griffin to sign to a five-year contract extension. The Clippers, enough to bring back Lamar Odom to a city where he should again flourish. The Clippers, enough to convince Chauncey Billups to stick around while convincing Jamal Crawford to sign up, two pieces that make them better.

It's still the Clippers.. they'll always underachieve like last year.

This team is getting close to the OKC level. Very close.

They just need KD. Otherwise, they're there!!!

They dont have a defender like Ibaka, although if Jordan really put forth an effort he can be a troublesome defender and rebounder. They do lack the potent scoring threat even with the Crawford signing, but he helps

Looking forward to seeing how this year plays out for them with the new editions and (hopefully) a healthy/injury-free Chauncy Billups. They definitely made steps in the right direction in comparison to the latter roster. Hmm...maybe Sterling has finally woke up and smelled the roses before he lays in em? I'm just sayin...

Agreed.

Let's remember that they really lost because CP and Blake were both playing through injuries. You saw what CP did in that comeback win.... it was amazing.

Clips have a legitamate shot next year. I think they'll be better than the Lakers. I'm not convince Nash will dramactically improve that team... he's too much of a defensive liability in a league being run by driving PGs. Westbrook will tear him to shreds. And if they put Nash on someone else like Sefolosa... that will be the game Sefolosa drops 25 lol.

Everyone keeps mentioning how Nash's defensive liability will hurt the Lakers. My question, when hasn't the pg position not been a defensive liability for the Lakers since Magic? Given that, the huge improvement I expect Nash to give over the likes of Blake and Sessions to more then balance things out.

I guess it depends on what one calls a "long haul".

Well, he will retire eventually, and he's probably not immortal. What do YOU consider to be the long haul? Five years seems pretty long to me, in basketball terms.

This team is nowhere near that level, although their players are. The team includes the ownership, which may be finally getting turned around. But, the team also includes the coach. They will never succeed at an elite level with VDN in charge.

Clippers could have had Ray Allen instead of Crawford if they went after him hard enough. They would have been better off.
