08:12 AM ET 07.11 | No matter where Dwight Howard winds up, this particular stretch of his likely road out of Orlando has been interesting. Brooklyn still has a real chance to land Howard, but other suitors are still in pursuit. HOOPSWORLD has learned that there have been preliminary discussions between the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets that would involve sending Andrew Bynum to the Rockets, Howard to the Lakers and a number of first-round picks, prospects and significant cap relief to the Magic. The Magic are not necessarily in love with the idea of giving either Bynum or Brook Lopez a sizable, long-term commitment as they go through a major roster overhaul. Draft picks and prospects, a la the Denver Nuggets??? return on Carmelo Anthony, is said to be more appealing to Orlando.

Man... I'm sick of this Dwight crap. Do it already Orlando? Send him to Minnesotta or Toronto.

Good morning jgb...I am beginning to really dispise Dwight Howard. If this trade all comes down to getting Howard out of Orlando as soon as possible, I am not sure I won't feel the same way about the Orlando magic organization...they dragged this thing on all last season and then want to make a hasty push to get Howard out of town? Why didn't they do that in the first place? What a waste of time for everyone.

If I was the Orlando Magic's front office, I would call Michael Jordan up and see about trading Dwight to them....for scraps (since that is all they have anyways)...LOL. Good morning to you sir.

Maybe but they're going nowhere when Howard departs. Since they're going to rebuild, I think it makes sense for them to pass on big signings and restart from the ground up with picks and cap space to work it in the near future.
Rumor has it that Nowitzki is on the Nets crosshairs if Howard doesn't come to Brooklyn. What do you think of that?

I think Orlando kept him in hopes that he would re-sign longterm, which is basically what every trade partner not in Brooklyn will be hoping for as well.
But instead of getting better after firing SVG and Otis, Howard pushed it to an even uglier place. So, now they know they have to move him. Can't say I blame them for the effort though!

I think Cuban wouldn't trade Dirk so that'd be wishful thinking.
And I agree it's also rumored Lopez is going to sign for the max or near that, if you're Orlando having him at that price is a pretty awful move.

Wait...The Bobcats have a legit prospect?
Regardless why would those teams give up those high profile prospects for a one year rental of Dwight?

That's not a bad deal either... Orlando wants those five first round draft picks from New Jersey and Cleveland...
