08:14 AM ET 07.11 | Sacramento, with a gloomy NBA forecast, has cast its glance upon the A's, but the team is apparently not receptive. Responding to reports Monday that Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson has begun to explore the possibility of bringing major-league baseball to the state capital and has particular interest in the A's, Oakland co-owner Lew Wolff said by phone, "We are not leaving the Bay Area, and that's the end of it." The A's are trying to get approval from Major League Baseball to move to San Jose, which officially is in the Giants' territory. The A's have been waiting for more than three years as MLB studies the team's stadium issues. The club holds an option to purchase a downtown site in San Jose for a privately financed stadium.

Sacramento would make a lot of sense for the A's.

Sacramento might need to petition the PCL for another Triple A team since the A's are turning their backs on them.

The Valley? As the central Valley like Fresno? As in 105 degrees every day in July and August? I think not.

Move the A's to San Antonio. Make for a nice rivalry...Astros vs. Rangers vs. A's...all in Texas.

A state that is bankrupt and has no hope of ever balancing it';s budget is now gonna play footsie with a baseball team which will no doubt ask for a stadium built with tax dollars? Plus millions in road improvements and parking facilities? Perhaps the federal government ( read taxpayers in the rest of the country) can help?

It is a easy solution of solving the A's and Giants territory battle. Let the A's move to San Jose and they only play home games when the Giants are on the road.

Here's an easier solution. San Jose is the Giants territory. Have the A's look elsewhere.

Where does Wolff get off having the sense of entitlement to claim San Jose as A's territory anyways?
THE BISHOP!
Total Comments (13410)
Because he wants it. Never mind that he knew Santa Clara county was within the Giants' territorial rights when he bought the A's and the price he paid for the team was reflective of that fact.

Sacramento wouldn't be too enticing to me. Another small market baseball team. About the size of the Cleveland and Kansas City metro areas. Smaller than Pittsburgh.
