Shakeup in San Jose continues

08:23 AM ET 07.11 | One day after formally introducing Larry Robinson as an associate coach to work on Todd McLellan's staff, the Sharks have hired Jim Johnson as an assistant coach and relieved Matt Shaw of his duties. Johnson joins the Sharks after spending last season with the Washington Capitals, where he was an assistant to Dale Hunter. ... Shaw spent the previous three seasons as an assistant with the Sharks. Prior to that, he coached with McLellan in the Minnesota organization with the AHL's Houston Aeros from 2001-05. "We've decided as an organization to go a different direction. That's not a reflection on Matt's ability," McLellan said. "He's a tremendous coach and I think we'll see him pop up in the National Hockey League very quickly."
