08:24 AM ET 07.11 | Among the free agents Dan Bylsma was willing to talk about Tuesday, along with Shane Doan, was mercurial sniper Alexander Semin, who has not re-signed with Washington. Of the Capitals forward, he said, "Alexander Semin has scored 40 goals in this league and is a dangerous player." ... He has been criticized for inconsistency, and there also has been some bad blood with the Penguins. In a 2008 interview with a Russian reporter, Semin asked, "What's so special about [Crosby]?" After a Feb. 7, 2011, game at Verizon Center, Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik said Semin embellished to draw a high-sticking penalty, called Semin "a baby" and added, "I've got zero respect for the kid." Bylsma dismissed those things as being part of a rivalry.

Believe me.......................he ain't free. Strange guy. As I've pointed out before no one in the league has more talent and he can be absolutely unbelievable during the 25% of his time on the ice when he decides to put forth effort. The rest of the time he's invisible.

That's why i do not understand the way so many writers and talking heads on radio say " he has been a 40 goal scorer' ??? Yes he was. He did it once. I as a GM would be looking at him as a "project" and offer funds based on a 30 - 35 goal scorer. Pay him for what he is , not what he was once.
