08:02 AM ET 07.12 | Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III remains among a group of about two dozen drafted players who have yet to sign with their teams, but he's optimistic. [Griffin] said that he hopes to sign his contract in time to report to Redskins Park on Monday along with his fellow rookies as they prepare for the July 26 kickoff of training camp. "I talked to my agent the other day, and he said they had been talking last week then took a break over the weekend, but from what I've heard I think it's gonna get done," Griffin said. ... He likely will sign a four-year deal worth $21 million guaranteed, including a $14 million signing bonus -- figures that are similar to the contract that 2011 No. 2 overall pick Von Miller received from Denver.

Puts a little excitement in the NFC East.

I would not rule out any team in the NFC East this season. The Giants only won it with a 9-7 record last year. If they can't do better than that, the division is up for grabs.
It could be a lot of excitement.

It is amazing to me how these teams can give these QB that kind of guaranteed contracts and big signing bonuses for a guy who has not taking a snap in a NFL game.

A point to ponder. By paying a rookie $14 million before he steps foot on a NFL field, doesn't that kinda make college football a professional sport?

Well, it probably doesn't come close to what he could have made at, say, USC, but $14 million is still pretty good.

The NFC east should be quite tight this year, barring major injuries. As a Skins fan, I do not expect a playoff appearance....just show me that you are working towards a goal, and not trying to be the "win it now" team that Dan has been trying to buy!! Oh, and Romo sucks (gotta keep it real).

This is actually MILD compared to what they were given in previous years....thanks to the new CBA. I'd much rather risk $14Mil than the $50Mil Sam Bradford got just a few years ago

RGIII - don't be stupid. Don't let your agent mess thing up. The way the system is set up, it is not your 1st contract but your 2nd contract that matters. With every day you are out of camp, you risk millions. Sign NOW and work on your 2nd contract.

I don't see a bright future for RGIII, not because he isn't good or anything personnel, but because of who drafted him. Shannahan shouldn't be coaching Pop Warner and Lil Danny......well that about say it all.
