Houston in the driver's seat for Dwight

08:10 AM ET 07.12 | By the day, it seems a blockbuster nears, though the complications also grow. With the Brooklyn Nets going another direction, the Rockets could be in the driver's seat to land disgruntled Orlando Magic star center Dwight Howard. The problem, as it has been for months, is getting the continuing talks to go far enough. Talks on Wednesday grew "serious," and the sides at one point seemed close to an agreement, according to a person familiar with the process. But the Magic backed off to consider their options. The Rockets are open to the three-team deal in which they would receive Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum, with Howard going to the Lakers, but are primarily working directly with the Magic to acquire Howard.

Gonna follow in the footsteps of Hakeem and Yao? Not a bad bunch to be named with.

He should wake up, play another season in Orlando, and then he can go anywhere his heart desires for any price!

Not true. He wants NJ but that's impossible now unless he gets a trade. They are capped out.

With his back issues why will Houston or any other team give up the house for him?

I love it when I'm right. I told you when this all started that Orlando would find a way to screw this up.

Good point. I haven't heard too much about Howard's back, not too many people come back strong after back surgery!!

I wouldn't put those two in the same breath. One was a highly skilled two-time NBA champion, the other another big freak of nature with injury problems.

This is really funny. Supposedly, Orlando has a problem building their future on Brook Lopez, but apparently they don't have a problem with Howards' surgically repaired back, or Bynums' chronic knee problems.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Howard walking away and the Magic left holding a box of tennis shoes.
