Houston in relentless pursuit of Howard

08:05 AM ET 07.13 | At the very least, Houston deserves some credit for making such a commitment. In one more significant step in the [Rockets'] relentless pursuit of Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard, the Rockets will use the amnesty provision on forward Luis Scola to clear further salary cap space, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Houston and Orlando have been in consistent discussions over the past three days, and Houston has shown a desire to stop at nothing to make a deal for Howard and try to convince him to sign a contract extension, sources said. Nevertheless, there's no trade imminent, nor a deal structure that is anywhere near in place between the teams. Orlando remains in talks with several teams, sources said.

I echo my a previous post of mine RE Howard. Why aren't the Knicks giving up Melo for this guy? Its proven the combo of Melo and Stat won't work and from a pieces stand point I'd say Stat should be the one to stay.

I will give them credit for being persistent.

As much as the dwightmare has brought Orlando and Dwight into a negative light.....Houston is starting to come across as freakishly desperate to get someone.
Its kind of pathetic and their GM is looking weak

Hit the nail on the head...

The manuvering for draft picks to make a splash didn't work... now this.

It's going to happen. They have blown up their team to try and make it happen and as much as Dwight is crying for Brooklyn, that ship has sailed.

Also, I refuse to believe that the guy is going to leave money on the table if he's traded to Houston. He may want to walk but that extra year and that $20 mill or so he's going to get for a 5 year max deal has to be too much to turn down.

I don't disagree with you. It does look desperate but I give him credit for going for it. If they don't get Dwight? They'll be a young and bad team for a few seasons.

Thanks for posting this. It seems from this the deal now is really a complete swap: Houston dumps all of it's players/picks and becomes the Orlando Magic. As jgb wrote, this does make the Rockets look very weak.

+1. Who cares about looking desperate. If they land D12 they can look desperate and like a playoff team.

wtf is the HOU GM thinking? He's basically mortgaging their entire future on this trade. Picks, cap space everything gone in one move and it's not like he's trading for Kobe Bryant at is peak!!!!

It would be awesome if this trade goes through AND Howard walks after the season LMAO

The awkward nerd chasing the cheerleading captain begging for a prom date....sounds like a cheesy 80s movie LOL! (Cant Buy Me Love)

Dwight will still want them involved in a sign and trade. They will be the only team that can give him a max contract.

he can simply walk away from a max deal after the year. Cryward has done some weird things, it won't be beyond him to do something like that LOL
