Ex-Michigan coach: Playoff will eventually expand

08:14 AM ET 07.13 | Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr knows firsthand what it's like to split a title. [Carr] led the Wolverines to a national championship in 1997, the program's only title since 1948. Of course, there was a catch: He had to split it with Nebraska, which was ranked No. 1 in the coaches' poll. The Wolverines were atop the Associated Press poll. College football has reformed its postseason this summer, officially ditching the BCS in favor of a four-team playoff. ... [Said Carr:] "I think in the future there's going to continue to be pressure, just like there was in basketball, to continue to raise the number of teams. But I don't have that answer."

Eight is enough.

Yeah I said the same thing a year ago. Where was my story in the papers?

4, 6, or 8 are all just fine. More than that is a bit dubious and will diminish the regular season.

If you don't have that answer then ****.

I said this all along, they will keep expanding it till it is out of control, haven't even had the first one yet and they are already looking to do it.No Sir, not going to get on the soap box today, enough said.

They can't go too far unless the reel the number of regular season games back in.

Hahahahahahaha---------they can too!

12 regular season games, 1 CCG, and 8 team playoff would add 3 more...that's 16. The extra playoff game could very well bring in more $$$$ than a CCG but I don't know.

I guess they could go to 18-20 like the NFL.

The final two teams in Texas HS football can play 16 games...but only two! 10 regular season and 6 playoffs if they make it that far.

This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.
