Can Sendek's anemic Sun Devils average 70?

08:15 AM ET 07.13 | In a recent online chat with Rivals.com, Arizona State coach Herb Sendek mentioned the thought that his team could average 70 points per game this season. Given ASU's recent past, that's a pretty bold statement. Consider: ASU hasn't averaged 70 points per game since Rob Evans' 2004-05 team averaged 76 points. Even Sendek's best team -- the 2008-09 squad that featured All-American James Harden and second-round NBA Draft pick Jeff Pendergraph -- averaged just 69.4 points. ... Last year's team averaged 61 points, which ranked 305th out of 344 teams. ... This week, I asked Sendek about the 70 points. He said he meant it more as a goal than a promise, but he didn't back off the intent behind the message.

Thought this article was about Appalachian State University. Herb hasn't do much at Arizona State.

Just a side note. I taught Herb's daughters to ski when he was at NC State. They look exactly like him. They had extremely large foreheads, but they did have hair at least.

they better play real good D...won't do much good to get 70 a game if you give up 71...

WPS and Peyton_sux are real winners....make that losers! Making disparging remarks about a man's looks on a sports website is gutless. Making rude remarks about a man's daughter is lower than low!
These two are just classless!

Herb: It is common knowledge that the University of Arizona rules college basketball in Arizona. ASU is a party school that is good from time to time in football. Please get with the program. Note also that the University of Arizona is pretty good in baseball, too!!
