08:50 AM ET 07.14 | Like most of the league, Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman is in a holding pattern while teams assess their situations two weeks into free agency. That doesn't mean Bowman isn't working the phones to bolster the roster after adding only depth defenseman Sheldon Brookbank on July 1. Bowman confirmed he has inquired about free-agent forward Shane Doan.

About the only team I can think of that didn't ask about Doan is the Phoenix Coyotes.

If its my Rangers id do that deal. I saw 3 years 7.5. Just enought time for the young studs to step up. Little overpaid but so what. beats trading for Nash. He makes more and you have to give up assets.

One hat-trick his whole career, but is a 300 goal scorer. Why leave a team that thinks you're 'C' material? Heard it's the Flyers offering big money.

That assumes the Rangers have some young studs. Maybe assuming too much?

So you would take an over 35 contract and pay a guy 7.5 mil a yr no matter what for 4 more years? He was 50 point scorer last year. So even if he stayed even the next few years, that still leaves you paying 7.5 for a 30-40 point guy the last few years?

I hope Sather listens to you.

especially if hew gets hurt retires decides to hide in the Montana compound of Tim Thomas hiding cause the Mayan calendar sez the world ends in 5 months they are stuck for the full amount now 2 years with 2 club options still way over the top as money goes and do you think with the CBA proposal that the owners have put up that this won't be used as a We think you're making a lot more money than you are saying you are " point
