09:28 AM ET 07.14 | The Pac-12 and Big Ten announced Friday that they were scrapping plans to schedule games against each other in all sports, with Pac-12 officials saying there were too many complications with football schedules to pull it off. The leagues had agreed to the partnership in December, well before a four-team football playoff set to begin in 2014 was approved by a committee of university presidents last month. Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany said the league recently learned from Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott that coordinating a nonconference football schedule for 24 teams across two leagues by 2017 proved to be too difficult. Delany said those complications included the Pac-12's nine-game conference schedule and previous nonconference commitments. The Big Ten has discussed moving from eight to nine league games and could move in that direction now that league teams aren't playing a Pac-12 opponent every year.

Let's see, this year the Ducks will win the 12 Pac, then next year it will be WA ST to win it. Or maybe Utah or Colorado.

LOL, kind of sounds like the SEC doesn't it??? They have had a different winner every year. :-)

If UCLA won their div last year, anything can happen quad.

Yeah, if Auburn won the SEC a couple of years ago, "anything can happen"!!! :-)

Maybe the two leagues have figured out that the days of them playing each other and ignoring the other conferences doesn't work anymore?

The B1G and 12PAC remind me of a guy that tries to order someone else's dog around. They just can't understand why someone else's dog isn't obedient to their commands. They can't force their desires down the throats of the other conferences and they just can't figure out why.

Too bad this happened.
I think it would have been a good thing for the game and CFB fans if these two conferences had annually gone head-to-head. Only bad thing I foresaw is that it might have led to some repeat matchups come (Rose) Bowl season, and we can't have that....oh, nevermind!

It's all the Domers fault.

Don't know what parking wars is, but having lived in or near, and worked in Detroit my entire life, I can say with certainty that you don't want live here.

Not sure whose dog we were trying to order around. The only problem with their plan was that too many schools wanted too many home games each year to make it work.

Mainly referring to the ALMIGHTY ROSE BOWL alliance. Seems they aren't too happy it wasn't allowed to dictate all the terms of the playoff...and really pissed off with the SEC/Big 12 bowl...whatever it is called.

One thing I've noticed on this site is the amount of animosity towards the Rose Bowl and the loyalty the B1G and 12 PAC show towards it. It is really quite simple. $$$$$$$
We both own an equal share of the Rose Bowl. It is too valuable to throw away just because some Johnny come lately conferences (you know who you are) want to have a play-off. The fact that Slive is now trying to get his own bowl game only proves the value of such an arrangement.

D Sparty, the $$$$ part is totally understandable. It's the arrogance of the two conferences that sticks in people's craw as evidenced by the Johnny come lately reference. The two conferences always seem to look down on others with a holier than thou arrogance. That's what irritates people IMHO...and I'm not an SEC homer.
