07:27 AM ET 07.15 | Heath Bell apologized to John Buck on Friday after giving reporters the impression he was criticizing Buck's pitch calling. Marlins people, including at least a couple players, have grown tired of Bell's excuse-making. After blown saves, Bell has mentioned the team's training staff, the Marlins' advance scouting reports and bad luck, among other factors.

This guy needs to be a VP in a larger bank, it is always someone elses fault there too.

This looked like a great move when he signed with the Marlins, but he has been an unmitigated bust.

19 saves and 6 blown saves; high ERA, but his FIP is 2.5 runs per game better--suggests poor fielding behind him. I would say he has been OK, but pitching poorly recently. I suspect the team really intended to say that he needs to stop blaming others to the press when he pitches poorly and just say "I blew it." In the clubhouse they can discuss scouting reports and pitch selection, but not to the newspapers.

His ERA is 6.75 and WHIP is 1.8. He's already walked 20 batters this season, whereas he only walked 21 all of last season. He's walking more batters, striking out less and when batters make contact, it falls in. His problem isn't fielding - it's him.

yeah, he isn't having a great season, and is trending downward, but players have good and bad stretches--I wouldn't give up on him just yet. It is possible he got old last month and is just done, but more likely he will rally soon and pitch better for a while.
But the excuse-making to the press needs to stop; he should keep that stuff in the clubhouse.
