Girardi not moving A-Rod lower in order -- yet

07:47 AM ET 07.15 | Joe Girardi, who always chooses his words carefully, fielded a question before yesterday's game about whether it was time to move Alex Rodriguez away from the heart of the Yankees' order. "We're not at that point yet," the manager said. Not yet. Which begs the follow-up question: Are we close to that point? Will we get there this season? Then the Yankees put up a characteristic 5-3 victory over the Angels at Yankee Stadium, which only strengthened the instinctual response to that question: No, probably not this season. Because the ultra-accomplished third baseman, though clearly past his prime, isn't the liability he is perceived to be. And because the Yankees have enough coverage for Rodriguez's decline phase, anyway.

If they had the nads to match their endless purse strings, they would eat this guy's contract and let him walk. ARod is a shadow of his former drug-riddled self.
The only reason George re-upped him was to see him break the all-time HRs record in a Yankee uniform. Now that everyone knows his record would be tainted anyway, who cares? Just like Bonds, he'll get a few weeks worth of attention and everyone will move on, knowing there will always be an asterisk next to the number.
Get him out of the clubhouse, where he has never been a favourite of any teammate, and move on by getting a better all-around player with way less maintenance.

268/355/435; not bad. UR/150--after generally being in the below average range, this year is -9, which is poor. Last year was +20 though, which is gold glove level. Same pattern as Jeter--last year relatively good (-8.8) this year much worse (-22). I wonder if there is something skewing the stats, or if they are really that bad? career: ARod -1.3 at 3b, Jeter -6.4 at SS.

I'm willing to give back 100 HR, 500 RBI and 500 hits for the juice. That sound about fair?
Stop kidding yourselves. Once you've had your fill of hating for hate's own sake, the guy still has a legit 550 HR, 1500 RBI and 2500 hits (approx). He's a first ballot HOF no matter what you think of the guy or his taste in women.

Having Cano behind him, they have to pitch to him, just a matter of getting that timing down, then their's no stopping him. Could be his age, hate to see him lose that .300 career.

This is why guys do steroids. A-Rod will make what? 150 million more in 5 years for a .275/25 HR hitter? Perfect.

I looked up Robinson Cano: UZR/150 career -4.5, last year -2.9, this year +11 something; so a different pattern than with Jeter and ARod
The Yankee infield looks better than this when I watch them play, but maybe I don't see enough games or something

Yeah, that's the ticket. Eat 20 - 25 million per year for the next six years just to prove they have "nads". Oh, yeah and give up 25 HR and 80 -90 RBI from a thin third base position.

Reggie said it all, if you did drugs and got elected into the HOF, don't expect too many if any existing members to show up for The Ceremony!!

Reggie Jackson is a blowhard and full of shytte, and you know it. Half the guys Reggie played with and against were flying on greenies and coke, and every clubhouse in the league had the "special" coffee next to the decaf. Don't get all high and mighty, especially where a skidmark like Reggie Jackson is involved.
He wasn't all that anyhow. He's three well-timed homeruns from being the black Dwight Evans.
