Phillies just as likely to keep Hamels?

07:50 AM ET 07.15 | The Phillies already have sent out feelers to determine interest in All-Star lefty Cole Hamels and could be forced to become a seller if their poor play continues early in the second half. Nevertheless, a pretty strong sentiment remains among outside executives that Philadelphia is more inclined to work feverishly to re-sign Hamels than trade him. It will be interesting to see if Philadelphia ??? and its fans ??? can tolerate moving a championship hero such as Hamels for a good, but not great package. That is something the Phillies will have to seriously consider if Hamels does not re-sign and the playoff odds do not get significantly better ??? and soon.

In todays baseball teams have two choices for improving on a bad season. Buy your way into a better situation like the Yankees do, or trade your way into prospects. Philly is dead for this season. Either they have lots of money to fix this or they are broke from Lee and Ol Roy. I hope they are broke, I love to see the Phillies get hammered.

the SILLIES will be sitting on their brains again this year watching the World Series... after spending the $$$$$$ they spent over the past few years--- this team should be wearing more than only 2 WS rings in 131 years....

Keep MUMBLES manuel as the coach and RUBE amaro as the GM---- guarantee nothing happening in the Toilet of Philly...

He's a young guy, I would try to keep him if I could but, they might not be able to afford him!

They have said they can afford him, to me the real issue, is their long term plan is to win games. They don't know or with who

+ how

2 days ago they were selling him, yesterday they were signing him, today they are back to selling--I think the writers are just making stuff up because they have no idea what is really going on.

They have lots of money tied up in aging players. The only way out of it is to rebuild for a few years or spend even more money like the Yankees and Red Sox. This Hamels deal will let us know which way the Phillies plan to go.

They want him but have to cover themselves in case they can't sign him.

Lee and Roy have moderate contracts if you compare each of theirs to Ryan Howard's bad paper. Bad, bad paper.

Hamels is the real deal. A team that has him would be silly not to try to keep him.
