08:10 AM ET 07.16 | A summer league basketball game in Las Vegas may have been what the doctor ordered for the Blazers, who are otherwise awash in headlines about restricted free agents and coaching search speculation. [The] highlight of it all was the play of Damian Lillard, the rookie who general manager Neil Olshey has dubbed the Blazers' "franchise point guard." Lillard started the day with teammates serenading him with the "Happy Birthday" song at the Blazers' morning shootaround on his 22nd birthday. It ended with a 25-point, four-assist, four-rebound performance that backed up all the hype. "Unbelievable," [Meyers Leonard] said of Lillard's performance. "I've seen what I need to see out of him. I completely expected it."

Lillard didn't play against any real competition in college. Another bad pick by the Blazers.

Or for most of his career actually...Felton was useless in Charlotte (my adopted hometown) but was good for my (real hometown) NYK. Hopefully he can bring that juice back with him

LOL! So you are in favor of starting J. KidDWI?
My NY boys and I discussed this over the weekend. I personally would start him but limit to about 25 mins a game. Have him in there for the steady hand at the start of the game and FT shooting at the end of the game.

I think the rookie of the year is between Lillard, Toronto's Center drawing a blank and Davis. In that order as well. Lillard only needed the minutes now Felton is gone he will have the green light to shoot. He is very quick, efficient with the jumper and the line, and athletic enough. I think he will average like 15ppg and 5 assist

Steve Nash didn't play against any real competition in college. And he turned out to be a good player. I'm I saying Lillard is like Nash. No. But just because a player goes to a small college doesn't mean they don't have talent.

Is this sarcasm? Forget who he played against in college he was the star at all of the draft camps with all the "big name" conference elite players. Recruiting teams for college mis-evaluate talent just like the pro scouts. He does a few things very well that a PG must do to be sucessfull he can shoot the jumper very efficiently and he is explosive off the dribble and good off the pick and roll and is fast . 24ppg 88% from the line 40% from 3pt 34 inch vertical sneaky athlete from a PG.

So damn ignorant. I forgot curry, stockton, and nash all went to Kentucky. Oh wait, they didn't. Lillard isnt afraid of anybody, i can easily see him becoming Allen Iverson like. Thats not just because i live in PDX. Lillard and leonard (leonard in like 4 years ) will be a damn good combo
