How a lockout benefits Vancouver

08:20 AM ET 07.16 | In addition to giving GM Mike Gillis even more of the time he's taking in moving Roberto Luongo, any work stoppage might have one more upside in Vancouver. The secondary benefit is obviously for Ryan Kesler, who will be protected either from himself or the team, whichever one is really to blame for the fact he's been rushed back from injuries in the past. Kesler had shoulder surgery in May. The recovery time is about six months. ... But the Canucks could also face some serious problems if there is a lockout, and that would come with a condensed schedule. Few teams travel as much as the Canucks, and fewer days off would put a lot of stress on what is a veteran team, one of the 10 oldest in the NHL last year.

It does present less games for them to choke in, though I sense with this logic, they 9and San Jose) might want to forego the April/May part of the sched.

Sure, a healthy Ryan kesler is worth millions in attendance, merchandise, and keeping fans who are quite clearly at ease with trashing the town when things don't go their way happy. Totally worth it

The real question is how will it affect our Hankola and his enjoyment at the Canucks misfortune?

Don't worry about Hank. He will sequester himself to his herb garden and, between puffs, watch endless replays of Lulongo highlights.
