08:15 AM ET 07.16 | Mark Aguirre shines as a beacon of hope for DePaul fans who hope to see Jabari Parker play basketball in Chicago. [For Parker, other] factors besides location provide DePaul inherent advantages. Close family friend Billy Garrett Jr. of Morgan Park, a former AAU teammate, already committed to DePaul -- where his father, Billy Sr. is an assistant. Another grade-school buddy, Cory Dolins of Niles West, will walk-on for the Blue Demons next season. Parker attended several DePaul games last season. His parents showed up for DePaul's Midnight Madness last year when their son was out of town with USA Basketball. The relationships the family has built within the basketball program suggest Parker still considering DePaul goes beyond lip service.

$250,000?!?
That's more than $Cam money and a MNC is more valuable in football than basketball. Surely you can buy this kid cheaper than that.
How much was Kentucky's highest-paid player making last year?

Parker will NOT play for DePaul. Guaranteed. The market, exposure, glory - and possibilities for an NCAA championship - are miniscule. Parker probably headed to Kentucky.

Ain't going to happen. DePaul's b-ball program is a relic of long past age. To revive it, they need a big time coach who can recruit big time players to kick start it. Right now, not on the horizon.

Anthony Davis got 200,000 to play for UK last year. Parker is better than Davis.

Also a 8-10 thousand seat arena on campus for weekday games with students going nuts. Big weekend games can be @ the Rosemont Horizon. A coach to draw headlines would help, otherwise the program will continue be below Depaul's Womens team in interest and just above Loyola and Ill.-Chicago. BTW my 1st sentence also applies to that other relic, Bradley.

Headed to BYU. Why? First, Jimmer Fredette = national exposure is possible in Provo. Second, LDS and favorable towards (meaning standard procedure, standard rotation) taking two years off for a an LDS mission which if you're reading the press is something he'll do. Third, not even a whiff of the scandalous under the table dealings these comments are suggesting. Fourth, smart young man with his head on straight for whom basketball is secondary to the FOUR years of education he wants to get = not interested in the semi-pro factories some of these other schools are.

You are a hopeful fan rather than a realist. This kid and his parents are about his future in the NBA first, last and always. Parker = Kentucky. (BTW, where did Fredette wind up for all that exposure?)

Parker is going to be a Tar Heel! He fits in to their game play. If he wants to be one & done he can go to UK. And yes, UK will probably pay him as well!

I'm pretty sure MKG & AD both got $200,000. I think this kid is better than that! He wont sell his talent. Especially if Depaul & BYU are still in the hunt. I think that shows more class than the others...

I believe his faith will have a lot to do with his college choice, but it won't be the only factor. Yes, he is a mormon. And yes, that would make BYU a logical choice. However, the kid is big time. I think he will choose a school with a great basketball pedigree, academics, and the structure to allow a player to follow his faith. My thoughts include: Stanford, UNC, or Duke
