Knicks, Rockets feuding over Lin deadline

$25m should be what an average NBA starting PG makes over 3 years... Question though, is he an average starting PG? On the flip side the economics behind such a signing would make sense for NY RE: drawing a greater fan base... I think this is not as clear cut a decision as simply saying: "He does not deserve it"...

Who cares when they delivered the offer sheet if you're not going to match it. These fools Dolan and his cronies, the Indiana clan, notwithstanding consultations from yours truly Zeke Thomas in all liklihood are truly contemplating signing the media hyped backup 2nd rate 26 game wonder. The GQ kid got the world shook wit his style, a style he created so we could go buck wild, tellin everybody thats near, he's the new flavor in ya ear, ya hear. Enough already wit this bogus cat Lin!

26 games gets you 25 mil. He clearly doesnt deserve that much money. The only reason it makes any sense to give him that much is because of the money he brings in off the court.

I heard Dolan was hiding under his desk so the FEDEX guy couldn't get a signature.

Ahhhhh, like not. We have never been starving for a fan base here. All you doing is swappin Asians for others, but the garden sells out no less. It has only been sellin out for 50 years. The notion that we somehow need Lin to enhance attendance is farfetched and completely bogus within itself....sorry emphatically not!

It's always a numbers game. The marketing department has to their due deligence in projecting MSG profits over the next three years. If they can get more granular they can project the cost of Lin and how much revenue Knicks can make on him over the three year period.

25 mil is not that much. It averages out to be a little over 8mil per year which is not too bad. Even if you factor in the third year pill its not that bad. Also having consistent point guard play will make the big money players more productive and tradable so it's worth gambling for him.

The other thing is that with the way Jason Kidd is drinking at his age you know he won't be productive next season which leaves the Argentine who has never played in the NBA the other point guard on the team. So in a way we need another point guard. That's when Lin comes in.

I don't think his body can sustain starter minutes but it's safe to say he'll be a decent back up which is an overkill for his price tag. But let's face it we've never had an asian guard this good. He's somewhat of a historical enigma. He will sell tickets and draw large crowds wherever he plays.

He'll be good at backing up Felton. Let's retain the retainer!

Yes and Lin will be a Knick. The intruigue and marketing potential is too good to pass up. He'll evolve to be a closer. A great back up to Felton!

I was just saying he doesn't deserve that much money. I guess if you understood english you would of known that wasn't an attack against you. But the fact that you feel attacked says a lot about you.

I assume the Knicks also holds TV rights in other countries? That is another source of revenue its not just ticket sales.

The problem is that its not 25 mil. Its 40 million. His 3rd year at 15 million is actually going to cost the knicks 30 million for that season because of the dollar for dollar luxary tax. Then if he ends up being what every team that cut him thought he was then all the same people will be saying the knicks are idiots for doing it.
