08:11 AM ET 07.17 | Butch Davis wants to be a head coach again. North Carolina fired him last July amid a series of embarrassing revelations during an NCAA investigation of his football program. The school said there was too much damage for him to stay even though he wasn't linked to a violation, and now he's working as a consultant with an NFL team hoping to become a head coach again. "I would love to think that the things we've accomplished over 37 years, that this one particular deal will not define me as a man nor as a coach," he said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Butch is a decent coach and should be given another opportunity. I bet he winds up somewhere out west, maybe in the PAC10?

If he tried the Pac10 might be a while finding a school.... :)

He's a top coach but it will be another year before someone calls him

He could look to a lower FBS school and bring them up to prominence....look good on his resume and he would still be coaching.

How about not hiring that guy that has been in trouble everywhere he has been. That might help next time. Forgot the guy's name, but he was at Oklahoma for awhile. I'm not criticizing Oklahoma, just that coach.

Didnt know you were actually Bobby Bowden??I think they have a list

We do......he can have my seconds

BIG $$ here wants Butch but some of the board is scared of him b/c of the baggage. So far from season end who knows how the cards will play out. 3 names I keep hearing are Davis, The WVA "bad hair", and Skip Holtz as a far #3.

AD seems smug...keeps inferring he has a big name interested. Will see how it plays out

I can understand being scared of hiring "somebody with baggage", considering how the last hir of someone with baggage ended up.

Good luck.

Thx...interesting job, but tough job.

Pros - right conference, good facilities, decent tradition, loyal fan base (no pro team in state) & reasonable expectations. Willing to pay $4 mill a yr for the right guy, big $$ supporting the program

Cons - SEC W currently is intimidating, few in-state recruits, facing rebuilding with new skill positions, defense is lacking & have to share the spotlight w/ basketball and baseball

$4 mill ought to get most to look, tho

Fulmer. Wait and see.

NOPE.....will not happen. The Great Pumpkin couldn't even beat out a bankrupt, senile old man for a temp gig. He's not gonna be the full-time replacement.
