Gov. Dayton blames 'idle time' for string of arrests

08:03 AM ET 07.18 | Gov. Mark Dayton has heard more about football than he'd like over the past year, particularly from a legal standpoint. The Vikings' 10 arrests since 2011 are almost twice as many as any other NFL team, and their 39 arrests since 2000 also lead the league. Dayton championed legislation that authorized the state to finance $348 million toward a new Vikings stadium to replace the Metrodome. "Idle time is the devil's play," said Dayton, describing the NFL's six-month offseason. "It means that young males who are heavily armored and heavily psyched as necessary to carry out their job are probably more susceptible to being in bars at 2 o'clock (in the morning) and having problems. It doesn't excuse it. It just says this probably comes with it."

What an enabler! These football players are adults who chose to break the law. Extra supervision or calisthenics are not the answer.

"Well people....It's Time to go to Work!!! Off the unemployment line and oh yea HTTR!!!!"
Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday Robert Griffin III tweeted that he had signed a deal with Redskins, meaning he'll be at training camp when it opens July 26.

My guess is you aren't under the age of 30 with millions of dollars to "make it rain" whenever you want either.

For the record, I'm hoping it will end. I'm looking forward to the Cowboys-Redskins rivalry to be revived.

It's good to see teams that have been "down on their luck" turn things around for themselves. Maybe this season will be the start of that for the Skins. I'm looking forward to seeing RGIII in action.
