08:08 AM ET 07.18 | Mikhail Prokhorov can afford the expense, clearly, though it doesn't make the numbers any less staggering. After already handing out over $300 million of Russian billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov's money to revamp their roster as the team prepares to begin play in Brooklyn this fall, the Nets re-signed Kris Humphries yesterday to a two-year, $24 million contract. Humphries, 27, averaged career-highs of 13.8 points and 11.0 rebounds in 62 games last season. ... Retaining Humphries caps a wild 2 1/2 weeks for the Nets. The team has now committed somewhere in the neighborhood of $330 million in future contracts to 10 players either through trades or free-agent signings since the free-agency signing period began on July 1.

the nets should have tried to bid for brand or Scola who were way cheaper in my opinion

+1. Kudos for your pay day though - its not the worst in the league considering you do produce for a half-decent to good PF. Time to get to work and purge that "former Kardashian" tag.

The Nets now have a starting five to compete in the East, maybe not with Miami (but who can?0, but surely with the other teams in the conference. Two years for Humphries is not too much, considering what he brings to the table. He can hit the boards which makes up for Brooks Lopez's deficiency on that department, and can put points on the board. Frankly, they did better signing Lopez and him, and not mortgaging their future to get Dwight Howard. Hopefully, this team will gel and someone else will get stuck with Howard - maybe Houston, it would serve them right.

Kris Humphries is worth between 6 and 10 mil per year so 12 is an overkill. His agent did well here by getting him a few extra millions for the shorter length of contract since he'll be subject to trade rumors eternally for that kinda contract. He's a solid forward who should mesh in with JJ, D-Will and Brooks. I wish them health and I wish them good luck... let the rivalry begin!

Brooklyn is a big market team. And they are flexing their big market muscles. As well they should.
