08:21 AM ET 07.18 | Thanks to an NCAA rule change that allows coaches to spend some time with his players during the offseason, as long as the players are enrolled in summer school, a good number of programs are taking advantage. [Almost all] Division I teams -- and all other leagues -- have been practicing with each other since June's summer classes began. One conference is still stuck a level or seven behind. Yep. Ivy League. ... The primary reason the Ivy doesn't -- or can't, really -- benefit from the new rule: Harvard and Princeton don't have summer school. Without every Ivy school having a chance to get its players into the gym during the summer, no one will. That's just a fact. Another fact is, Harvard and Princeton run the Ivy League.

LOL!
Can you believe the Rockets just released the guy what, 7-8 months ago, and now they're dropping $25 mil to sign him up?
Talk about idiocy...

At least we got a 1-day reprive from Pedophile's and Domer Homer threads. Hell, I don't even think there's a Gump thread today.

Good to see that there are at least two universities in this country that recognize summer school courses are a joke. Probably why Harvard and Princeton are at the top of the pack academically.

It worries me that they don't get to benefit from a minor NCAA regulation change.
Now they're really going to want revenge on the rest of us when they are running the country.

Vandy is in the SEC, and so by definition they are an academic joke also.

Yale yes
Stanford yes
Vandy NO
Vandy's a good school, but not same caliber as the four others

Vandy is ranked #17 in the country by US News. Not bad, not bad at all.
Looks like they quit ranking at about 300 (bunch tied at 170 - 194 that I saw)

But not Top 5...and there is a HUGE drop after those few top schools to the next tier.
Also, nobody seems to realize those are for UNDERGRAD rankings.
A similar situation for Vandy would be Notre Dame and Rice....all three are very good undergrad insitutions, but when it comes to graduate programs, they all drop quite a bit.

Hurray! Tennessee is practically in the top 3rd in something other than women's basketball!

So where was the discussion about graduate school? Discussing (in a joking way) about the need or lack of need for summer school.
And what makes it a huge drop off after the top 5?
Just curious.....
