08:16 AM ET 07.19 | Francisco Liriano's Wednesday evening start could have been considered another audition. Preparing for a possible trade, the Twins are said to have a Plan B starting pitching option in place on days Liriano starts. Anthony Swarzak and Brian Duensing are both stretched out enough to make an emergency start. The Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays have shown legitimate interest in Liriano in recent weeks, per sources, although it's possible the Blue Jays' stance as buyers could change now that slugger Jose Bautista is out with a wrist injury. Toronto's starting staff owns the seventh-worst ERA in baseball (4.54), which is why they have been scouting Liriano's last few starts.

Agreed. He was a Tiger killer for a while. He just hasn't been able to get back to where he was before consistently.

No idea what to predict going forward on this kid, but after his pathetic start to this season, he's been pretty damn good. In his last ten starts dating back to May 30th, he's averaged 6.1 innings per, a 2.84 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 10.9 K/9.
I'm sure that's why teams are even considering him. Replace the Twins' pathetic offense with that of the Angels, or better yet the Blue Jays, and Liriano could be winning some games.

The guy needs a change of scenery and an offense to back him up. Even the Minny D is suspect.
That said, I cannot imagine a team giving up a lot for Liriano.

With Bautista's injury likely the final straw for Toronto, LAA is reportedly the only interested party left, which should hold down the bidding war. Of course, ESPN could be wrong about which teams are interested, or teams might be waiting until Hamels and Greinke situations are clarified. I think if I am Minnesota, I would slow down the negotiation unless LAA makes an offer too good to refuse.

the angels are well aware about cole hamels capabilities and his tough level at the mound, this pitcher would give a hugh boost to any team whoever gets him through the trade deadline!!!

angels shouldn't trade pete bourjos, unstead the halos should trade morales and a minor leaguer, or they could trade tori hunter and morales and a minor leaguer for cole hamels i think this would be a great deal nevertheless!!

the angels acknowledge their urgency for starters and their minor league system its TOO thin to even think about replace their slumping pitchers with triple AAA pitchers,!!

the ONLY problem could be A= if hamels refuse to sign a long term deal with the halos, B= angels get hamels then the angels lost hamels in the free agency, C= angels get any of those 3 pitchers, as its liriano, hamels, greinke, then lost any of this pitchers in the free agency, all this bad predictions could and would leave the halos in a deep limbo, why?? because the halos would ended without a starter and without any of those players that the angels trade for either of those pitchers!!!

Wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if they are going through with the ridiculous Strasburg innings limit.

Meh. I'll upgrade their offense from 'pathetic' to 'below average.' Particularly for an AL team.
Regardless, the fact that over his last 10 games he's 3-4 despite posting the stats that I listed in #3. The fact remains, he'd enjoy a nice bump in offensive support if he were to move to the Angels or Jays.
