08:17 AM ET 07.19 | Yes, he's golfing, but he's not retired. Jamie Moyer wanted to make it clear. So clear that he said it twice: "I'm not retired. I'm not retired," he said Wednesday at a news conference at the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament at Lake Tahoe, Nev. "I'm just kind of laying in the weeds and just trying to figure out what's going on." The 49-year-old Moyer last pitched in the majors for the Rockies, where on May 16 he became the oldest pitcher to ever record a win in a 6-1 victory over the Diamondbacks. Colorado cut him on June 1 and he has had stints in the Orioles' and Blue Jays' minor league organizations before being released by Toronto on July 5. ... If he does return, he said he still sees himself as a starter.

Too bad there's no senior circuit like the PGA has for these guys who just can't quit playing. Jaime Moyer, Ricky Henderson, Manny Ramirez... to name a few... that could be a fun game to watch.

On a side note, I think it's time Moyer faces the future and picks up a jop somewhere coaching. He's great at helping young arms get to know the game. I'd love to see him in the Phil's organization some time soon, at some level.

I have enjoyed having Moyer around--he is living proof that you don't have to be 7 feet tall or throw the ball 120 mph to be successful. You do, however, need to know how to pitch. He is an excellent object lesson for young pitchers and all General Managers.

Jamie, PLEASE find a way to become the Rockies' pitching coach. Heaven knows they don't have one now... ok, two guys who CALL themselves pitching coaches, but still.... Do whatever it takes to get Apodaca COMPLETELY away from this organization.
