08:06 AM ET 07.19 | Though Brett Favre has no relationship with the Packers, he says that could change -- someday. "That day will come. I haven't lost any sleep over it, nor have they. ... I wish them well," said Favre. "What I did speaks for itself. What I left behind speaks for itself." Favre explained this all to Deion Sanders and NFL Network and also indicated that he is not waiting for the Green Bay Packers to retire his number or honor him in some way. ... For now, it doesn't seem like that time has been determined. "You know what, I don't know what the future holds. ... And people think I'm crazy, but I don't need to have a day," Favre told Sanders. "I don't need to have a retirement, retire your jersey, all that stuff to solidify my career."

Well, at least it's not a basketball story.

Gotta love that picture of He Who Must Not Be Named.

This is why China is beating us at everything.

He doesn't want his jersey retired because it might close the door on him coming back this season.

July 19, 2012  08:50 AM ET

Right. And the Jets are going to retire Jen Sterger's bra.

Sounds like a man enjoying his tractor to me.

As Favre said, the Packers don't seem to be losing sleep over this one...

It might be the only thing Deanna lets him enjoy.

He could have enjoyed the Sears TV too, if he'd ever made up his mind about it.

Have to admit for once he is right about something. Not everyone needs a Lou Gehrig moment. Favre played the game and his numbers speak for themselves, he doesn't need a stadium full of people to remind him of that. But then again, it may change over time and he may become softer and that moment may present itself and it will be fulfilling. Then again he can ride his tractor off into the sunset and not care a dam.

Favre is probably still injured by Packers for letting him go. He's been on the childish side of the road with that one for a long time. Maybe he will change his mind as he gets older. On the other hand, some people live for the grudges.

Baby steps. First an autograph and photo op at the Wisconsin State Fair, then maybe a donation to a Green Bay school, and finally the grand marshall of the Door County Cherry festival.
