08:26 AM ET 07.20 | Surprising though it may have been to Nashville, Ryan Suter's deal in Minnesota probably didn't help the Predators with Shea Weber. Weber has a more complete resume than Suter. He's an Olympic gold medalist, a two-time Norris Trophy finalist and team captain. The seeds of this summer of discontent probably were sewn last offseason. Weber's contract was up, and he was slated to be a restricted free agent. ... [Weber] said that he wanted a deal to stay in Nashville. Then the Predators filed for arbitration with Weber to prevent him from being signed to an offer sheet. Weber's camp asked for an $8.5 million award, and the Predators countered with $4.75 million. The arbitrator gave Weber $7.5 million.

The Preds are a typical small market team. Draft well, pick up a bargain or too and hope to win a single Cup before the team is ripped apart by the moneyed teams up north. They had a nice team these past two years, wait till 2017. Next up: Who wants Rinne?

"Weber's discontent a year in the making"

He was unhappy with $7.5 million??? ****!!!! I'm really starting to dislike this greedy jerk!

BTW. Is there anything else happening in the hockey world other than Weber's greed? C'mon! Even a Nash or a Doan thread would be welcomed at this point!

Pens fired their whole medical team. Wonder why?

So be it. Overdue.

Does that mean Sidney isn't going to be concussed anymore? :-)

If he does suffer a head injury maybe they'll actually get the diagnosis right this time.

That and other small things like .... a spinal injury. Send those morons to practice medicine in the KHL. They're well qualified.

Yep. I have no sympathy. Can't be botching **** like that. Hope it was one of Sid's conditions when talking contract. "****-can" the medical staff. "I would like to live."

It may not be the Preds decision. Rinne may be fed up by then and pull a Suter.

It reminds me of the M*A*S*H episode when Radar took the correspondence course run by Hemingway and Steinbach - Ethel Hemingway and Bob Steinbach.
