08:53 AM ET 07.22 | Can you imagine the A's as trade-deadline buyers? They are looking for help on the left side of the infield, with names like Yunel Escobar, Stephen Drew and Chase Headley being mentioned, but the likes of Sean Rodriguez and Cody Ransom seem more realistic targets.

Time for Billy Beane to hit the thrift stores, see if he can find a few antiques in the discarded junk.

Better for them to stay pat. If what they have is god enough to get them to the playoffs, fine. If not, build on it. They have some solid young players. They are about where the Rangers were in 2009. Build on it.

The A's need a new stadium. San Antonio? Salt Lake City? Portland? Sacramento?
Beane is doing a nice job with a very limited income.

I think everyone has forgotten, conveniently perhaps, that the A's were the pre-season favorites to win the AL West in 2010, primarily because of their pitching. Then, along came the Rangers.
The A's are a light-hitting team but pitching and defense are a well-known cure for batting woes. They won't make the post-season but the arrow is definitely pointing up for them.

A's are starting to come together. Now if they can just pick up offense at short or 3rd they can make a run at this thing !! Go A's !!

It would be foolish to try to make any big moves. This team is winning with team chemistry and a never-say-die attitude, which allows timely scoring to overcome an overall lack of offensive production. Bringing in, or getting rid of, the wrong player(s) could ruin this chemistry, and then it's back to a team that doesn't have enough offense to compete. And the worst thing Beane could do right now is offload more of our young pitchers to get marginally better on offense, probably at the cost of great defense (3rd base or shortstop).
Just leave it alone, Billy, and see what this team can do. Who knows, there may be a sequel here...
