08:03 AM ET 07.23 | Protecting Peyton Manning has become big business in Denver. The Broncos have offered [left tackle Ryan Clady] a five-year, $50 million contract extension with $28 million guaranteed, according to an NFL source. The $10 million a year average would make Clady one of the league's five highest-paid offensive tackles. He is scheduled to make $3.5 million this year, which ranks only 31st among NFL offensive tackles. However, the league source said Clady and his agent, Pat Dye, are seeking a deal that would slightly exceed the contract of Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas, who received an extension last summer that averages $11.5 million a year, according to the NFL Players Association.

Lots of pressure keeping Manning upright!

Put Elvis "Florida Felon" Dumervil in the offensive backfield with a Glock and nobody comes near Peyton Manning.

If it catches on, they could change their name to the Pistoleros.

So when Peyton gets planted on his rear game 1, will they cut the lineman who missed the assignment?

nice I hadn't thought about Blazing Saddles in a while--it still brings a smile to my face.

Horrible mistake...can't stay healthy and performance has gone down. He thinks he deserves more money than what's offered because he knows he has them in a spot with Manning. Wish they'd pull the offer and tell him to hit the road.

Awww give him some money, wait till second half of the season, cut him when he gets a hang nail

Can't blame them for wanting to keep Manning upright! Regardless of cost, I think the tackles that can't handle the job won't be around long. Manning's ability to change the play at the line from pass to run and back again, will challege them to keep their head in the game. Those that can't won't be around long imo.

Eli is greater than Peyton, that is all.

In Indy we love Peyton's little brother...but the utter collapse of the Colts last year without Peyton proved the 4 time MVP was deserved because no one in the league including, Eli, carried their team like Peyton did. No other team, including the Giants and Pats struggled as much without their Starting QB. Both Mannings are future HOFers imo.

Would be great if Peyton could play enough in Denver so when he goes into HOF he goes as a bronco. Screw Irsay

Thats bc the stupid GM built the team around Peyton..thats really more of an indictment to his shotty personnel work than it is to Peyton. Notice how the Pats didnt falter once Brady went down, this is bc BB and Pioli realize that you cant build around one guy, no matter how great he is.

Also..u cant spell ELITE without....___ (Eli = 2 rings, Peyton = 1)

I'll yield that to you...they let Sorgi go, not a blue chipper, but knew the system and was more capable than any backup or replacement they had. He could have gone at .500 for us imo.
