08:06 AM ET 07.23 | Chris Paul likes his new NBA home enough to have recruited Grant Hill, but he's also still quite fond of New Orleans. [Q:] A lot of players have gone from small-market teams to bigger cities and they are usually not popular among fans in their original NBA cities. It's not your case in New Orleans. Why do you think is that, that you are still popular over there? ... [Paul:] I'll always love the city of New Orleans. Even though I don't play there right now, I'm always there, I always go back. I have an after-school program there that is for kids in inner-city schools. I want to try to remain involved in the community there. I'm not here on this USA National Team if not for the fans in New Orleans. I don't know why they love me back. I was there six of the best years of my life."

Let it go my fellow Torontonian.
Damon wasted his career and regrets leaving, Carter & T-Mac are NOT franchise players (just doing their best imitation of one), and same could be said with Bosh.
If Toronto invested heavy money into these guys, (at best) we could breifly be another Atlanta Hawks for a year or two; spend too much for limited talent to lead the team.
Patience...and don't listen to some of the negative Yanks...they just don't like to share the league.

So rather than make the playoffs and while watching some of the best scorers the league has seen in their prime, you'd rather it work out how it did?
A T-Mac/Carter duo in their prime would have been awesome to watch

"I have an after-school program there that is for kids in inner-city schools."
Maybe thats why Chris...hes a good dude and does a ton of work in the community where he plays also here in NC where hes from. Plenty of high paid players never do jack sqaut in the cities where they play other than some basketball camp.

"I don't know why they love me".
OK I do. This is a sports starved society. NO needs SOMEONE to love when it comes to NBA. It can't be Gordon. It can't be Jarrett Jack. Not Kaman.
So by default is it sill CP3.

With Bosh, we didn't even make the playoffs the last year he was on the team (I believe). LOL...I wouldn't call him "one of the best scorers the league has ever seen"
My goodness, lets keep a LITTLE perspective, please.
Carter was a shadow of himself near the end of his time in Toronto, if you happened to watch him then. Didn't see any change for the better once he left, either.
T-Mac was/is an injury-riddled player since he left, and along with another D/L guy Yao did what besides "entertain" (tease, really) the fans in Houston.
Damon...meh.
Am I thrilled at where the Raptors are?
Of course not, they could do better.
But I don't think we need to mimic NY and throw max deals at Amare-like players that won't accomplish much on a team except "entertain (tease, really) us with a brief glimpse of success.

Lol...I would sincerely hope that the Raptors set their sight on higher accomplishments then being like the Hawks.
