08:09 AM ET 07.23 | Though Gar Forman recently said Chicago's decisions this summer would be based on basketball, not finances, some wonder. The Bulls did spend money on Kirk Hinrich to replace C.J. Watson and appear close to signing Marco Bellinelli to augment a bench that also lost John Lucas III. But with the Bulls finally receiving [Omer Asik's] three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet from the Rockets on Sunday, the writing is on the wall. ... [Next] season is a treading-water season. So instead of depth being the secondary star, the Bulls hope to add a legitimate one alongside Rose. With Hinrich, Belinelli, [Vladimir Radmanovic and Nazr Mohammed] all signing short-term deals, the plan to clear major salary-cap space in 2014 will remain intact.

Asik can set a monster pick, but he rolls like my grandpa getting out of bed; slow and with no idea where he is.

Poor Bulls, things were looking so rosy (pun intended) but the flower has wilted. Derrick will want out of there soon.

Not sure why Rose would want out. If he had not been injured, the Bulls had a legitimate chance to win the title. I could see if he doesn't return to his superstar form the Bulls might want to part ways. But he is on a contender, in a major market, big contract, plenty of endorsements ($200 mil from shoes alone), I don't see him leaving.

Rose will have to adjust his game a bit because of the leg he injured the will become more of a jump shooter which in turn could make him a better all around player. He will not completely take away his bread and butter of driving the lane but it will be reduced a bit.

Rose is no Jordan. The Bulls' offense is built around him being a ballhog. Therefore, Chi will suffer while he's out.
